Brodbeck Ironworks Radius Platen

Description

The Brodbeck Ironworks Radius Platen is made of heat treated 4140, with a 36″ radius, to imitate a huge 72″ diameter wheel. Used to make a shallow hollow grind, it removes weight and is most commonly used to make an “s-grind” on kitchen knives to aid with food release. The 2″ x 8″ platen is sized to fit the Brodbeck Ironwork “Mareko” deep platen, but will also work for many grinders that usually use a longer platen.

The mounting holes are tapped with 1/4″-20 thread, and are spaced at 5 1/4″, 6″, and 6 3/4″ centres to suit a range of grinder mounting options.

The Radius Platen is supplied with a pre-formed mounting plate to suit the “Mareko” platen, allowing for easy toolless changes between it and the regular flat platen.

PLEASE NOTE: This platen is an add-on for an existing platen mount and will not mount directly to your grinder. Installed pic shows it installed on the Brodbeck Ironworks “Mareko” deep platen, which is sold separately.
