Description
W2 is a water quench tool steel famous for its use in the manufacture of files, and for its ability to achieve a Hamon when heat treated correctly. Anyone that has worked it knows that quenching thin sections, like knives, in water brings with it a very high risk of cracking and failure. Regular quench oil will cool it too slowly to achieve full hardness. Houghtons K Speed Quench oil is recommended to bring out the very best in this steel.
