Nickel 201 grade, 99% pure nickel.

This thin nickel sheet is commonly used in damascus and san-mai billets to create a thin bright line in the pattern or between core and cladding layers. The nickel also prevents carbon migration between steel at temperature, e.g. to stop carbon migrating from a high carbon steel core into mild steel or wrought iron cladding in a san-mai billet.
