Description
W302 is a hot work tool steel with 5% chromium. It has good hot toughness as well as a high hot hardness and a high resistance against heat-checkings. The combination of these properties makes it a standard choice in extrusion, forging and low-pressure die casting.
Hot work steels harden from use.
Available in Round Bars in three thicknesses:
- 20.5mm
- 30.5mm
- 35.8mm
Chemical composition: C 0.39%, Si 1.10%, Mn 0.40%, Cr 5.20%, Mo 1.30%, V 0.95%
Heat Treatment
Heat steel to 1,020-1,080 deg C, Hold for 15 to 30 minutes then Quench in Oil, salt bath (500 – 550°C [932-1022°F]), air, or vacuum. After hardening, temper to the desired working hardness.
